Since when have you been breeding discus?

I breed discus since i was 20 years old and i am now 42 years old. So trace back the year is i start breed discus since 1988.

And i start exporting discus since 1990.

 

 

Which is your favourite kind of discus and why?

All kind of discus ,especially some high ranged price discus such as Leopard snakeskinAlbino series, so i can make a living and have good time beside of discus business.

 

 

 

Which are the criteria you use in making the selection of the discus for breeding?

All kind of high body type discus… Albino is not my dream at all now.I almost success with all kind of albino strain. Now high body is what i loking for, now i am fully concentrate with high body type discus when i selecting my breeding stock

According to your opinion the discus is a difficult or easy fish to breed?

Discus is very easy to raise and breed ,compare to others kind of  fish.12 months of discus can start breeding and one generation is only take 1 years. Most of the poeple facing discus sickness is just very simple,wrong treatment with medicine and careless. Edge with good condition and parameter water quality ,and then always keep your eye with your discus all the time. Treat wth correct medicine, discus can be very easy to breed and raise.

And for you exist a particular kind of discus more difficult than others to breed?

Heckel, the center vertical bar is secret of the heckel discus .Even i try before with wild male amd wild female,the center vertical bar still losing with high percentage, i don’t know why.

 

 

 

 

Which  are the principal aspects in managing a farm like yours?

1000 tank and 12 edge water fibreglass tank with each 2400 gallon X 12 =28800 gallon and 5 worker, water changing system is very important for my farm. I changed my water twice daily, with 100% water changing system of mine,it only took 2 hours to refill all the tank. The rest of the time is feeding and preparing food for discus.

Are you breeding your own particular line of discus?

I have almost all the strain of discus,sometime customers will looking for some old fashion discus.For this years,Brilliant Turquose is very good sale, Just like fashion, and i have some high body type Spotted and High body Pigeon type discus and that was consider as my own particular line of discus.

 

 

If yes which are the efforts in term of time, human resources

and tecnologies to reach a self-made line?

those high body type Spotted Eruption ,high body Ring Leopard  and High body Pigeon type discus take me several years to created them. No human resources or any special tecnologies ,just that i am in this discus business for so long,with my eye ,i can tell which discus have potential  can form new strain.

Do you think that having your own line of discus can be

useful in your country doing commerce with discus?

Yes,good point.having some own line of discus will bring some buyers from oversea ,but not for my own country. When i take so many year creating a new strain,i don’t sell to local. I prefer sell to oversea. In this way of business ,i can keep the price stable of new strain for at least 2 or 3 years. Most of my royal and regular customers from oversea will always got my new strain.

For you does exist “The Malesia discus style”?

This is personal,You can choose not post as what i say! What is malaysia discus,—–Malaysia discus is discus factory of all asia discus and to all of the world . Maybe 75% of quality discus come from Malaysia. In  your site,. Lots of breeder claim they are  the breeder but actually not a real breeder,they just a discus trader. They buy from me and some real breeder discus and tag as their own name as their own discus.

What do you think about the culture in your country about acquarium in general

and in particular….obviously about discus?

Is there any foreigner breeder from whom you get inspiration?

NOT AT ALL! 

Who are the best breeders of discus in the world for you?

Some breeder in Penang but they perfer stay out of front and stay behind ,this is discus business policy and rule at Malaysia. Breeder keep production and sell to Middle Man (discus trader or exporter at Malaysia, Singapore and even taiwan and China). Imagine if a real master breeder operateing a 1000 tank ,do you think he still got any spare time to served Internet or foreiner buyers from oversea.

In your experience exist particular assumptions for breeding healthy discus and which are

the most common problems or illnesses that can happened in breeding?

Buy only with direct breeder and exporter and make sure they are not hormone or virus carrier.

Real breeder and exporter can fully quaranteen and know the exact way to send healthy discus

Speaking about Italy…. Have you ever heard or you know any italian breeder

or italian name in association with discus?

not at all. I don’t ship to italy, but very soon my discus will reah Italy.

What do you think about our web site  “Mondodiscus” ?

very good! very creative on all .But the fact is cruel, something happend at asia  and lots of europe buyers doesn’t know the true.

If I ask you to give only one advise to a person that want to start breeding

discus what would be?
